This is great, Jocelyn... worth the wait! It is wonderful to catch up on what is happening with Joyanne--a pleasure to see her coming into her own, and also to see Mayborne's more sympathetic side and learn a bit more of her background. I was going to save it for later but had to read it in one sitting, so the only other comment I have is... more, more, more!!! (please?)

Hi Eileen,

Glad you liked it. I am working on part two. I’m hoping it won’t take over a year this time. Just wondering if there are any more stories on a certain planet that rhymes with crazy. Hee, hee, hee! In the mean time I’ll keep chugging along.

Good stuff, Jocelyn. Things are going remarkably well between your characters.
I eagerly look forward to Part 2, to see just what happens next!

Hi B,

Could be the calm before the storm. I have no idea what they’ll be getting up to. Mayborne isn’t any easier to get information out of than Joyanne. I hope they let me know something soon though.

Your sense of characterization is strong and I get a good sense of setting and social dynamics. HOWEVER, the dialogue is at times stilted, out of character, and the plot devices are not well concealed. Otherwise, good! :)

Yay! I've been checking back with this site for a LONG TIME for some more writing from you. I'd completely given up hope.

Thanks ever so much for your great story start. Don't take too long to post part two. Excelent character development...

I'm looking forward to more as well--Joyanne's a fascinating character...I have to wonder if she's really as well-adjusted as she presents herself to be. :)

Hi Gang,

Sorry it’s taken me so long to reply but real life grabbed me by the hair and flung me into the fray. It hurt but I’m okay, hee, hee, hee!

Firstly, thank you, all, for taking the time to read and comment on “In Passing”. Writing is a bit difficult for me at times (as you’ve probably noticed). The more RL I have to deal with the fewer working brain cells I have to devote to fun (but you probably know how that is too). I had written a few pages of Part II but upon rereading them, I realized that they were not a part of the story that Mayborne has been telling me. It seems I can’t force it. It has to happen. Since both May and I are workaholics it hasn’t been happening. I’m hoping to get a few pages done over the next few weeks sorry for the slow progress! I know how it is. Fortunately, for me, everyone else writes much faster.

Secondly, a reply to those I haven’t replied to yet…

Tiasanna,
Plot device, what plot device? Here, Plot, here Plot, come here Plot! More seriously, Mayborne is giving this to me in increments that can probably best be described as vignettes. Sorry, about the lack of dialogue but most of Mayborne’s dialogue is internal. She’s never been the chatty type. Joyanne isn’t very chatty either and this story is 100% from May’s POV so you don’t get to hear the funny remarks in Joyanne’s head. I get to hear ‘em and she’s come up with some doozies but they don’t get into the story since there is no way Mayborne would know.

Merridith,
Thank you for not giving up on me. As I mentioned RL has been a problem of late. I think that Mayborne and Joyanne are interesting characters. I wish I could say that I made them that way but I didn’t they are who they are because that is who they are. I’m glad to see Mayborne telling her story. I just wish she would do it more quickly. I’m dying to hear it too! I will try to convince her to talk.

WingedWolf,
Good to “see” you. I’m hoping that part two doesn’t take too long myself! I’ve been trying to coax it out of them but… Not to mention I’m still trying to get Joyanne to tell me what happened at Trin Oren before she came back to Keepsake Hill all “rehabilitated”. I have a feeling that one is a real corker!

Meanwhile, I'll just keep chuggin' along and hoping that when they do start to talk RL isn't making me to crazy to listen.

Love your work. I am looking forward to part 2. Hope RL is treating you better than me. :-) Love all your stories and wanting more. Blessings and may the Tecton doesn't hold you back and lets you write more soon.
